Defining Bandwagon Propaganda
I find this form of propaganda to be especially important because of the digital age and the increased use of mediums like social media, television, and streaming sites by all ages (but in particular younger audiences). Everyone is being targeted to buy into whatever the mainstream media is marketing at that moment whether or not it is accurate, safe, or even worth the time.
My target audience will be U.S. high schoolers. They are in a pivotal time in their lives as they navigate school and social lives while also preparing for adulthood in a frenzied media climate. A look at bandwagon propaganda should help these students be able to more readily identify different techniques that are used in the media to get them to buy a product or to take part in a campaign etc. It is especially important that young people growing up know to research what information is being pushed out to them and not to just follow what is popular or viral. Peer pressure can become a big aspect of how students in high school make decisions.
The method I chose to educate high schoolers on the topic of bandwagon propaganda is a video presentation detailing the general idea of propaganda is and how it is typically used with the use of real world examples through various media formats (video and images).
