My 29th Year

I’m coming up on my 29th birthday on March 23. That’s really crazy to even think about. I honestly still feel like I’m in my early twenties, though current dress styles and social media trends remind me that I am a little bit older than some. 😉

Here are a few things I’ve learned ( and am still learning) in my twenties:

To trust fully in God ~ I joined the Air Force at the tail end of my being 19, so I spent my 20th year as my first full year in the military.  I had no way of knowing where I would be stationed at first after technical school in Texas, but I had to trust that God would place me where He needed me- that was Northern California, where I have been the past nine years.  I had to trust that God would help me get acclimated to military life and be able to thrive, that he would provide me with a good church and Christian friends, and meet my needs for housing and transportation. He’s done all that and then some, though in my early twenties, I got ahead of Him a little and made some mistakes that I still cringe at now.  2024 and now this year have brought up some crossroads in my life, and I need to place my full trust in what God has for me coming up.

To take steps to better myself~ Spiritually, I have been challenged to prove God by stepping out in faith in whatever He has for me. I’ve also learned that God wants a real relationship with me, and not for me just to conform to man-made rules and preferences. Relationally, I’ve been challenged  to come out of my shell more and be open to friendships with other like-minded people. Physically, I’ve been challenged to make healthier food choices and prioritize exercise. Emotionally, I’ve been challenged to confide in trusted people when I’m feeling stressed and mentally low. Educationally, I’ve been challenged to pursue fields that I am interested in and to keep learning every day. Financially, I’ve been challenged to save, invest, and give back to God and others.

To enjoy the beauty in life~  Life brings its own set of challenges, but it’s always good to take time and enjoy the small and big things. In my twenties, I’ve moved several times, bought a car, deployed overseas, celebrated multiple holidays/events with family and friends, finished a degree, played a lot of Sims, read a lot of books, went to the theater too many times to count, and took many trips ( NYC being a bucket list spot ✨).

I’ve been reminded again recently just how fragile life really is, so I find it necessary to reflect on the past, but be hopeful for the future!
